Many people take the opportunity to have a post-Christmas clear out. Once the decorations come down it’s time to clean up and take stock of what we no longer have a use for anymore. If this sounds familiar the Cone Exchange might be able to help!

If you are a keen crafter then any materials such as fabric, ribbon, wool, sewing or embroidery threads or tapestry supplies then we will find the best way to either re-sell or repurpose your donations. However there might be other items that you are wanting to clear out that other charities and social enterprises in the local area might be able to make good use of. Click  below for more places to recycle.

  • Got a new bike for Christmas and not sure what to do with the old one…get in touch with Resurrection Bikes,  a volunteer run project based in Harrogate who refurbish bikes of all ages with the proceeds being shared between local based charities.
  • Furniture that needs a new home?  Disability Action Yorkshire  Essential Needs and Saint Michaels Hospice are all happy to collect good quality items that they can re-sell to raise funds for their charitable projects.
  • Piles of books overtaking your shelves?  Oxfam bookshop in Harrogate list good quality paperback books as one of their biggest selling items and are always thrilled to receive more.
  • Clearing out your shed? Local social enterprise Horticap can always make use of gardening equipment whilst old hand tools can be donated to Tools for Africa via the Cone Exchange. (Please note we can’t accept electrical tools, thanks)
